Observing, reflecting, assessing and recording children’s progress is the key to future planning, to meet the needs of each individual child. At Appletree we involve the children in their own learning by making Special Books which contain photographs, observations and children’s thoughts and ideas. The children are very proud of their Special Book and share them regularly with parents.
Each child’s key person keeps a record of their progress in their Special Book. Families enjoy being involved in keeping this record which helps us to plan activities to suit children’s individual needs. The children’s Special Book goes home with the child when they leave nursery to transfer to primary school and is a wonderful memory of their time here at Appletree.
