The Governor’s at Appletree Nursery School are representative of our local community. Some are elected by the Local Education Authority (LEA), some are members of the local community and/or its organisations, some are members of staff, and some are parents of children accessing services at Appletree Nursery School.
The Governing Body has general responsibility for the conduct of the nursery school with a view to promoting high standards of educational achievement and extended services. Individual governors have no power or right to act on behalf of the governing body except where the whole governing body has delegated a specific function to that individual or where regulations specify that a function is to be exercised in a particular way.
Governor’s have three main roles:
To provide strategic direction for the school
To act as a critical friend to the headteacher
To ensure accountability
All governors are appointed at the Full Governors meeting.

Governors Annual Report to Parents 2021
We now have a vacant post for a parent/carer to join our school governance board. This is a lovely opportunity for the views of the parents to be shared and influence decisions we make at Appletree.
If you would like more information about this, please email Sammy at bursar@appletree.lancs.sch.uk
